Multiple Platforms With Unique Strengths
Desktop/Laptop/Tablet
Desktop/laptop computers and tablets provide the most wide reaching access to the Digital Twin and the best way to input information. They are widely available, have little learning curve and support easy collaboration.
Virtual Reality
Virtual Reality (VR) provides a completely virtual, real-world scale environment to interact with the Digital Twin. Immersion in a VR environment provides an intuitive understanding of the space that isn’t possible on a computer screen alone. VR allows for natural and intuitive interaction with 3D data just by looking around and interacting with your hands like in the real-world. VR is as close as you can get to being in an environment that doesn’t exist, or cannot safely be entered - this makes it especially useful for training on work procedures that cannot be trained on in the real-world when the asset has not yet been constructed, when an asset cannot be safely accessed or when a shutdown is required to access the asset.
Augmented Reality
Augmented Reality (AR) allows you to bring 3D models and digital data into your real-world environment. With AR you see the world around you with digital information brought into the space to augment it. This allows you to access Digital Twin information in the context of your real-world environment. AR allows for natural and intuitive interaction with 3D data just by looking around and walking in the real-world space and through the use of natural hand gestures for interaction.
